Few highlights on JJF 2009

Jason Mraz, keren. Tapi gak yang over-the-moon keren. Just keren. Rame banget banyak abg yang punya kebiasaan begini: kalo lagunya tau, nyanyi kenceng-kenceng. I don’t mind with people nyanyi kenceng2 during concerts, believe me I feel the joy, too. But having all those irritating flashlights from you pocket digicam? Or worse, your cellphone? Not gonna work, dude. So leave the concert as it’s supposed to be. Just sing and dance! Kebiasaan penonton lain yang mengganggu: they leave when they don’t know the song. Or they get grumpy because of it. I don’t care if it affects them only, but taking pictures while other people are trying to enjoy the concert?

21st night. Mungkin emang salah di ekspektasi gw kali yah, having reviewed their CD, plus knowing that they’re Maliq & D’essential’s project. John Mayer’s No Such Thing! Apapulak ini bah, macam penyanyi kafe aja! Huh. Ilfil. Sebel. Keluar deh gw buru2 sama partnerboi.

Humania, udah pada tua, tapi masih lumayan banget. Hampir semua hits lama dibawain, with new arrangements, which is super good. Yang gw inget adalah ada yang sound-nya mirip banget Deeper Underground-nya Jamiroquai (although a dear friend of ours who happens to be Humania’s number 1 fans because he’s their good friend didn’t admit that. The resemblance of the sound, that is =P). Let’s just see whether Eki cs will bring good hype once more on the coming album, having last performed in 2005 and they last album was in 2000 (meeh, this is 2009!). In a nutshell, Humania is still enjoyable =)

Matt Bianco, kereen! Tapi penuh banget dah sampe keluar2 gitu, and since I was late so I didn’t get to see the whole performance.

Slank. Book! Keren banget ciiing! Asli. Bener2 entertainer, dan moreover, aspiring gituuh! Asli dah. Padahal gw gak tau semua lagu2nya loh, tapi ya ikut joged2 aja dah tereak2 huehueh kampong. Berasa gak kaya di javajazz deh huheuhe. Mantap deh pokoknya. A memorable quote by Kaka, “Nah, Bim (Bim)! Jarang-jarang nih kita manggung sore begini, plus banyakan cewe wangi juga yang nonton. Anti keringet!” hueheuhe =)

Peabo Bryson, powerful! Udahlah dapet jatah di Plenary, jadi hype-nya berasa banget. Big band-nya keren, sound juga keren. Mantapp! Padahal im not his biggest fans looh, tapi tetep termehe2 walaupun gak nonton dari awal sampe akhir.

Tompi, at first keren. Ok I admit, I underestimated his skill, thought that he’s only, you know, a record studio kinda singer. Ternyata maaak, nyanyinya jago, plus kagak ada meleset2nya tu nada. Keren. Tapi lama2 kok ganggu yak? A bit too much here and there. And everything too much is not good, dear.
20 menit,.. keren bener.
30 menit,.. bener2 yaa, entertainer abis!
40 menit… kok mulai annoying ya?
45 menit and above, anjrit! Kagak ada abisnya apa ya ni improvisasi?
Quoting partnerboi, “OK we get it. You have all the skills in the world. Now bugger off!”

Soil & Pimp. Kata orang, ini band genrenya jazz kontemporer. Kalo kata gua, super hardcore jazz. This Tokyo-based band has all the energy in the world! Bok, gw nontonnya aja capeee, with all the near-trance sax & drums sounds. Kadang2 lagunya agak mendisko gituh, tapi teteeep dominasi sound dari terompetnya bikin lo cape sendiri. I personally don’t like it very much, but I was awed by the way they perform. Asli, kaya orang lagi ngiprit gituh, kenceng abeeees. Barangnya bagus kali, kata kata partnerboi huehuehue. Sayang jadwalnya molor berat, karena abis Soil & Pimp ini harusnya langsung dilanjutin Maliq & D’Essential (which I adore), tapi berhubung telat sejam lebih, jadi maap2 aja dah ya, Maliq terpaksa minggir dulu, karena… time for SWING OUT SISTER!!

SWING OUT SISTER. OK, where to start, eh? Yaah, jaman2 diracunin lagu2 sama abang gw gitu deh), dengan Breakout sama Am I The Same Girl. Fast forward jaman2 gw di Melbourne, partnerboi mulai meracuni gw dengan full album by SOS, and I love them all! By love them all I mean, I could play the same album for quite same time, and never get bored out of them. Afal luar dalem atas bawah liriknya, trus kalo ngedengerin bisa sampe merem melek begitu, tentunya sama partnerboi. Yes, we’re that disgusting, tapi itulah yang terjadi kalo ngedengerin SOS. Nonton SOS bertiga, just like in our imagination! Wooot! Bener2 bikin bikin merinding, dari sekian lama konser, sekian banyak lagu, 90% tau semua lagunya, termasuk dari album terbaru, Beautiful Mess (Iwan bilang kalo kita gak tau lagunya, bukan salah kita, karena biasanya CDnya suka banyak keluar di Jepang doang, which happens to be SOS’s biggest fan base). Dan selama konser itu, jadi kaya autis gitu rusuh bertiga, nyanyi Breakout, Twilight World, Stone Cold Picnic, Surrender, Where Our Love Grows, Love Wont Let You Down, Am I The Same Girl, Butterfly, Beautiful Mess dan lain-lain. Pokoknya nyanyi, joget, semuanya bertiga. Hihihi sampe malu tapi bodo amat. Kalo kata orang konsernya biasa aja karena gak full band (akustik doang dan gak ada brass sectionnya), tapi tetep ya book, I love SOS! *kampungan mode, ON*
Hehe =)

All in all, JJF 2009, RAME. Rame gila2an sampe kadang berasa gak nyaman. Artists line up keren bener, sampe kadang berasa bingung “abis ini kemana yaah”, ‘yaah bentrok”. Manyun sih, tapi berarti JJF berhasil membawa artis yang emang diminati kan? Menurut gw sih yaa, the event still worth the money. Kapan lagi coba bisa nonton sebanyak gitu artis? Me likey :)
Aku bangga =)

i agreeeee...a few photos here and there during a concert, fine...but documenting every single second, and then commenting loudly to your friends nearby about the final product of the paritcular photo "Omg bagus banget yah...tp kok gelap yah...mungkin harus pakai flash...blablablaaa"..puh-leeeaasee! Just watch the show, and be considerate about others around you, who actually want to see the show (not through a tiny digital screen of light)...
Anywhooo there's my whinge for the day =p... Hiii Mijung!! How aree youu?? =p
